Jóhann R. Benediksson

Jóhann R. Benediktsson developed CareOn in 2015 with his partners, a specialized software for home care services, an unchartered territory at the time. CareOn is a HealthTech solution, a comprehensive resource management system designed to give caretakers, family members and management a tool that simplifies, organizes and streamlines all facets of home care. CareOn has the noble goal to improve care and overall quality of life for people that need homecare services. The field of Health Care Technology is fast growing and it is now indisputable that health care technology is one of the main solutions when it comes to our ageing population, rising costs and an increased demand for more diverse services for the disabled and elderly. Jóhann has a background in law and for 10 years he worked at the Icelandic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including the Icelandic Embassies in Paris and Brussels. He was appointed District Commissioner at Keflavík Airport in 1999 and later Police Commissioner of the Suðurnes District.. Jóhann has held numerous positions of trust over the years alongside official duties, most notably being the first Icelander appointed to the board of the European Border Agency, FRONTEX. He was also a board member of the Icelandic Competition Authority for eight years, most recently as vice-chairman of the board.
